American Smells

In America, I can usually smell something sweet and a little bit sour, and something mixed. First, wherever I go, I can smell that American smell. The supermarket, restaurant, and sundries department where I entered all have same smell. The only difference is the strength of the smell. Second, all the food and stuff have the same smell. Snacks, candles, and even shampoo have it. When I bought shampoo and body soap, I was surprised because I could smell an American smell from them. In Japan, I used the same products, but the smell is different between America and Japan. I prefer the smell of Japanese products to American products because I'm Japanese. Finally, I can even smell American smells when I'm beside an American person in Japan. I thought that all Americans have the same smell, but it's wrong. I realized that the country of America has the American smell! That's why American people smell the same smell. One day, I asked my friends about the smell because I might be the only one to smell it, but I was happy to hear their opinion, because some of them agreed with me. However, the others disagreed. They said that they have never smelled it. Then, I thought that some people can smell the American smell, but others can't smell it. Now, I'm getting used to it. I'm sad that I can't smell the American smell any more. We don't notice our own smells, so we don't know the Japanese smell. If there is a Japanese smell, I like it. I wonder if Americans know their own smell. Fortunately, I can smell the sweet and happy smell of America, so I am a lucky girl.
