Christianity
Learn an Important Thing From Religion

I had homestay for three days for the first time in March. My host family is all Christian. During these three days, I could spend the life of a Christian. I learned a lot of their habits. They were very different from mine. This experience made me think about the difference in thinking of America and Japan.

In America, Christians pray before the meal. One of the people gives thanks to God, and finally, the person says “Amen”. Then, the other people say “Amen” together. They never delete this habit. They always do thanks to God, and never are lazy in their studies about Christianity. The day of my first homestay, my host family held a meeting of Christians. A lot of Christians came to their house. In the meeting, they sang, listened to the person’s talk, and asked about Christ. In this meeting, almost all of them were students. There were even twelve year olds. They asked and said their opinion to their elders positively. I was so impressed. In Japan, there are not so many students who have their thoughts or opinions like that when they are young. I thought religion sometimes make people grow human treasure. Also, they go to church every Sunday. I got taken to church. There were a lot of families. I think to do the same thing together is a good thing for the family. They can have conversation naturally. In Japan, a family hardly has customs together every week. So, I think religion made the family have a good relationship.

I have found that Americans who are Christian have good customs for their family. In Japan, recently, families which hardly have conversation are increasing gradually. I didn’t study about religion, but I found that religion made people a good life since I spent time with a wonderful Christian family.
