English Rakugo

On April 26, I went to listen to the English Rakugo at JCC. Kysh (Mr. Kaishi Katsura), who is famous Rakugo-ka in Japan, came to Washington and held Rakugo in different places in America for 6 months. Do you know Rakugo? Rakugo is a comic storytelling with Japanese fan and handkerchief. These tools can be a lot of things; tobacco, udon(Japanese noddle), scissors, and so on. We practiced udon's gesture! At first, he spoke in Kansai Japanese. My language is this kind of Japanese, so I felt very confortable. And then he did Rakugo, I thought it is difficult to get a laugh from American people by Rakugo. But his English was very good, easy to understand and also his gesture was big and dynamic! After that I talked with him about his job. I was surprised that he studied English by himself. I respect about energy of his job and his dream that he wants American or foreigners to know about Rakugo more and more. So I'm also full of energy again!
