Class Style
It is Important to be Active

I became active in class since I started to study in America. American teachers tell us that it is important for us to give our opinion in class. When I studied in Japan, I didn't give my opinion in class. There is a different style of class in America and Japan.

Many Japanese students don't often give their opinion in class. They listen to what their teacher said and write that down. They answer when their teacher calls on them. In the American case, many students give their opinion actively in class. It is natural to argue with each other in America. Which case is better? I think it is important to give my opinion because we can hear different opinions from many students. If students don't give anything, their teacher can't know if they can understand.

I have found that Japanese and Americans have different values. For example, it is important for Americans to give their opinion in class, but it is natural for Japanese to be quiet in class. I think Japanese students should follow Americans. My discovery made me understand how important it is to be active in class. Forwardness makes us able to spend a full time in class. For example, we can get skills of explanation and concentrate on our class, so it is very important.
